Album review: The Rasmus – Weirdo
It’s been a 3 years since the latest The Rasmus album Rise, which was also the first album with their new guitarist Emppu Suhonen. Last week, on September 12, they released their new studio album Weirdo and I admit: I was hesitant at first. It’s been a while since I last really enjoyed one of their albums to the fullest. BUT the first single release from this album, Rest in Pieces, really gave me hope as it sounded more like their older, a bit rockier stuff. Oh holy moly, this week has been incredible in terms of new releases? Also my TIDAL algorithm is still not trained super well and I keep coming across problems with faulty artist attributions, so from time to time stuff slips my attention. Another Friday and another week full of interesting releases! Yay! Let’s start with my most awaited release of this week: My beloved Oceans released a new single today and not only does it once again just click with me – it also comes with an absolutely perfect feature: Fabian Getto of Equilibrium joined them for the song Still Nøt Okay and wow. Not a Friday release is Lost Society’s new single Dead People Scare Me (But The Living Make Me Sick), which is the first release since their album If The Sky Came Down in 2022 (and the intro to „their new era“). Another favourite of mine is Electric Callboy’s new single Revery, which is thematically on the darker, heavier side while, stylistically, it kinda carries a Power Metal vibe (I’ve read a comparison to older Sonata Arctica and it kinda fits?). Straight from my personal release radar, and put very briefly: Here are my favourite releases this week Fall of Mankind is a new project by Eluveitie’s Rafael Fella and Alain Ackermann. Portent in the Dark is their first release featuring Adrienne Cowan of Seven Spires. Album review: Annisokay – Abyss Pt II
Strictly spoken, this is not an album, just an EP – but I don’t care. This EP has been one of my most awaited EPs this year (maybe not only this year, I’ve been waiting for this since Abyss Pt I was published). And it was worth the wait.
