Release Friday: 21 November 2025
The past two weeks have been full of great releases and since they’re already piling up several metres high, I can’t keep myself from telling you about my current fave releases: Starting with last week Samurai Pizza Cats released a new song called City of Gold. It carries a strong 80s vibe (kinda reminded me of One Morning Left – whom I miss incredibly much) and I really love it. VÆNTIS (former Neverland in Ashes) released the second single under their new name: It’s called Eject and holy cow, it’s good. It’s really damn good. Catchy, nice, I’m honestly looking forward to seeing them live in January next year: Perhaps something most of you have taken notice…

Release Friday: 8 November 2025
Once again I missed a few Fridays. Life is busy right now. But there’s been pretty good stuff released lately, so here’s my personal selection of releases of the last few weeks: A song that slipped through the last time but is pretty iconic is The Laugh Track by Ice Nine Kills. For some weird reason, this band keeps sneaking out of my radar, although they’re amazing, The Laugh Track is no exception: On 24th October, Versengold released a new single called Dans op de Deel. The title is Low-German (and so are some parts of the songs) and refers to an event where a big group of people dances or celebrates together (that’s what Wikipedia told…

Release Friday: 10 October 2025
It’s been a while. Life’s been busy. So let’s catch up with the most recent releases because quite a bit has happened release-wise since I last posted here, so I’m working my way through 3-4 weeks of releases here 😀 The German band Neverland in Ashes recently announced a new beginning, which comes with a new name: As VÆNTIS they are now back with their first new single Paradigm. For me it’s as much an earworm as their older songs were and I’m excited for what’s yet to come: I’m not the biggest listener of The O’Reillys and the Paddyhats, although their musical style is pretty much my taste but somehow they never really caught my…

Release Friday – 12 September 2025
Oh holy moly, this week has been incredible in terms of new releases? Also my TIDAL algorithm is still not trained super well and I keep coming across problems with faulty artist attributions, so from time to time stuff slips my attention. So here’s my personal list of this week’s new releases and some older ones that I dug out a little belated (there’s quite a bit of female power here): The first one is a new single by the German metalcore trio Future Palace. The song is called Cyclone and IT FUCKING SLAPS. Pardon my French, but Maria Lessing is QUEENING again. This song is so goddamn good, I just can’t. Maria…

Release Friday – 05 September 2025
Another Friday and another week full of interesting releases! Yay! Let’s start with my most awaited release of this week: My beloved Oceans released a new single today and not only does it once again just click with me – it also comes with an absolutely perfect feature: Fabian Getto of Equilibrium joined them for the song Still Nøt Okay and wow. It’s a fits! Speaking of Equilibrium: There’s finally something new from them as well! Not only has guitarist and composer René Berthiaume recently announced that the next album is now more or less done – they also blessed us with a new single. It’s been a while since their last release Gnosis, and BLOODWOOD is an incredibly good song…

Release Friday – 29 August 2025
I am lacking the words to describe what’s currently going on. Last week there was a new release of Private Line, who hadn’t been active since *checks notes* 2011 when they released their album Dead Decade. This week, one of my fave Gothic Metal bands from my teenage days returned and melted my heart once again with a fresh, super damn beautiful song! Teenage-me would be very excited to know that all those bands I loved dearly when I was young will also be a part of my adult life. I am speaking of Charon and their new single Fall of Angels. Super damn powerful, beautiful song, 10/10, Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto’s voice is still one of…

Release Friday – 22 August 2025
It’s been a while again. My summer has been busy. I guess at this point I can be happy if I manage to post a Release Friday once a month. Sorry sorry. Here’s what caught my attention recently: Firstly, let’s start with a fresh release today from one of my favourite German bands: Versengold released a new single, this time featuring the German rock band Madsen. Falscher Leuchtturm is a very typical Versengold-song that makes me tap my feet: A highly awaited new release for me was Private Line’s new single Alterlife. Private Line are a Finnish sleaze rock band I’ve been listening to since my teenage days. They went on a break for a few…

Release Friday – 18 July 2025
Oof. It’s been a while. I’ve been kinda busy throughout the last weeks, so now is actually the first time I find the time to put together my personal list of new releases. Bear with me, please. I’ll catch up on some of the things that I’ve missed. Let’s start with the most recent releases of last week: Fit For A King released a new song – and it comes with a feature. Chris Motionless of Motionless in White joined them for Witness The End and it’s a total banger: My slightly belated birthday present this year was a new single by Amon Amarth. We Rule The Waves was released on Thursday and it sounds very much…

Release Friday – 27 May 2025
I’m a bit late. My weekend was busy and my energy level was low – and so was the amount of new songs on my personal radar, but here’s the small fine selection: Schandmaul released their first single with their new singer Till Herence. It’s called In der Hand and while it’s very different from what Schandmaul fans might be used to, it’s still very Schandmaul. As a quick summary: Schandmaul recently posted a very emotional video in which singer Thomas officially handed the microphone over to Till, a long-time companion of the band and one of his stand-ins for the live shows last year. Unfortunately, Thomas’s cancer treatmand caused too much…

Release Friday – 23 May 2025
I’m a bit late to the party this time, but here’s my personal overview with my favourite releases from this week. Not a Friday release is Lost Society’s new single Dead People Scare Me (But The Living Make Me Sick), which is the first release since their album If The Sky Came Down in 2022 (and the intro to „their new era“). Another favourite of mine is Electric Callboy’s new single Revery, which is thematically on the darker, heavier side while, stylistically, it kinda carries a Power Metal vibe (I’ve read a comparison to older Sonata Arctica and it kinda fits?). One of my favourite Finnish Gothic Metal bands For My Pain…, who have recently started being…
