Shorts: Release Friday – 23 May 2025

I’m a bit late to the party this time, but here’s my personal overview with my favourite releases from this week.

Not a Friday release is Lost Society’s new single Dead People Scare Me (But The Living Make Me Sick), which is the first release since their album If The Sky Came Down in 2022 (and the intro to „their new era“).

Another favourite of mine is Electric Callboy’s new single Revery, which is thematically on the darker, heavier side while, stylistically, it kinda carries a Power Metal vibe (I’ve read a comparison to older Sonata Arctica and it kinda fits?).

One of my favourite Finnish Gothic Metal bands For My Pain…, who have recently started being active again, released a „new“ song as well. Time Will Heal Our Wounds is not a new song per se, as, according to the band’s socials, there is a pretty old live recording of that song which so far was the only sign of its existence. I’m glad that they decided to record it

The Swedish band Sister, who I’ve been following since 2008 already when they supported Private Line at their shows in Germany and then rediscovered several years later as support for Wednesday 13, also released a new song called Blood Sacrifice.

And finally on my list: Call It A Day, who I’ve recently discovered as support for Maelføy, released a new song called Through Barriers and it’s more than worth checking out.
