Shorts: Release Friday – 18 July 2025

Oof. It’s been a while. I’ve been kinda busy throughout the last weeks, so now is actually the first time I find the time to put together my personal list of new releases. Bear with me, please. I’ll catch up on some of the things that I’ve missed.

Let’s start with the most recent releases of last week:

Fit For A King released a new song – and it comes with a feature. Chris Motionless of Motionless in White joined them for Witness The End and it’s a total banger:

My slightly belated birthday present this year was a new single by Amon Amarth. We Rule The Waves was released on Thursday and it sounds very much like you’d expect an Amon Amarth song to sound. Which is a compliment from a long-time Amon Amarth lover.

Another belated birthday gift coming from a bit of a different direction: Seraina Telli released a new song called Consequences and it’s very damn good. If you’re into hard rock, check her out. I’ve seen her as opener for Visions of Atlantis last year and I loved her. She’s also touring again this fall with a few headline shows, some festival appearances and as support for Kissin‘ Dynamite.

And finally for last week, there’s a new single by I Prevail. I gotta admit that I still have to get used to their sound without Brian (no criticism on their decision, it’s just a matter of familiarization), but I really enjoy their new song Rain – although it feels super short.

Now a bit further back, there’s more updates, yay. For example The Rasmus released the fourth single of their upcoming album. It’s called Love Is A Bitch and while I kinda like it, I admit that none of the following songs could excite me as much as their first release Rest In Pieces (which, to me personally, sounded a lot more like older The Rasmus-stuff, which I’m kinda digging). The Rasmus will be on tour with their album Weirdo in November.

The next one is not available on Spotify, so you’ll get a Youtube video instead: BÖSE FUCHS released the first song of more or less a new era. In November, Valeria and Max Nash parted ways with singer Kate Khaiauri and decided to go on as the powercouple that they are, working with live musicians for touring. Their song DARVO deals with narcissistic abuse and gives an interesting perspective of where the path might lead. The two-piece band has also announced a tour this fall.

Also released on July 11th: Jesus on Extasy released a new song called Soul Crusher. When I stumbled across a post announcing their new album I was super surprised because I hadn’t heard of them since basically around 2008 and hadn’t really expected a comeback. Their song Assassinate Me caught my attention back in my teenage days when I discovered it on the CD that came along with the magazine Orkus (or Sonic Seducer? I can’t tell anymore). I’m kinda excited to see that they’re back and I’m looking forward to hearing more from them (also big surprise: they’ll also be on tour this fall, joining Die Krupps for their anniversary tour).

And here’s another one (that I found only now by accident, lol): The Finnish legends of Amorphis released a new single called Bones on 11th July as well and heck, I love it. Amorphis have this super distinct sound that I’ve been into since my teenage days and Bones carries a lot of potential to get stuck in your head very easily. I’m looking forward to their tour with Arch Enemy this fall:

I can travel even further back since I didn’t update this list for super long, so here are honourable mentions:

Static by Our Promise was released on 20th June and underlines why, for me personally, Our Promise are one of the most promising younger German bands right now (touring this fall with Annisokay):

Klabauterfrau by Versengold was released on 4th July and it’s a nice little fun tune. Still gets them stuck a bit in the Schlager-corner, but it’s fun to listen to.

How The Gods Kill by The Halo Effect was released on 20th June as well, not much to say about that, I love it.

And finally (the last one, I promise): Lorna Shore released the second single of their upcoming album on 25th June. It’s called Unbreakable and it gets me ridiculously excited for their album.
