release friday

Release Friday – 12 September 2025

Oh holy moly, this week has been incredible in terms of new releases? Also my TIDAL algorithm is still not trained super well and I keep coming across problems with faulty artist attributions, so from time to time stuff slips my attention. So here’s my personal list of this week’s new releases and some older ones that I dug out a little belated (there’s quite a bit of female power here):

The first one is a new single by the German metalcore trio Future Palace. The song is called Cyclone and IT FUCKING SLAPS. Pardon my French, but Maria Lessing is QUEENING again. This song is so goddamn good, I just can’t. Maria is a beast. Go listen to it:

Next on my list is Steh den Sturm by Erdling. My currently favourite German dark rock band is getting closer and closer to the release of their new album Mana and this one is the sixth single they’re releasing from their upcoming album. Once again it’s a song that easily gets into your ear, as most Erdling-songs do. I really like it and I’m looking forward to their album:

The Dämmerland-project of Malte Hoyer, Hannes Braun and Annika Hoyer never fails to surprise and amaze me. They’re working their way through the German alternative music landscape and now joined forces with another one of my favourites coming from the Neue Deutsche Härte-corner: With Eisbrecher they released the song Willkommen in der Dunkelheit, which gives interesting insight into the next Dämmerland-story. I’m super excited to see what’s ahead.

And my new favourite two-men project Fall of Mankind (Rafael Fella & Alain Ackermann of Eluveitie & TVINNA) has also released a new song. This time the vocals were provided by Rafael’s incredible wife Laura Fella, singer of TVINNA and Faun. This song is more on the beautiful side of music and damn, I love it. Laura was the perfect choice. This project gets me so excited, I can’t even express it.

Already two days ago, there was a new single by Bad Omens. With Impulse, they released another very beautiful, somewhat melancholic song. The heartbreak goes on. I love it even more than Specter.

One that slipped my New Arrivals playlist last week but was perhaps one of the most discussed release of last week was the song End of You by three absolute queens: Poppy, Amy Lee and Courtney LaPlante joined forces for this song and it’s hellishly good:

I also stumbled across two more August single releases that slipped my attention: First of all, the Swedish rock band Sister released a new song together the Swedish pop artist Linda Varg, whose voice matches the song incredibly well. Unfortunately the song is another case of faulty artist attribution, which might be one of the reasons why I missed it. With Let Me Be Your Demon they released a very powerful song and I’m looking forward to their upcoming album:

And this last song was more of a coincidental find because I didn’t really have that artist on my radar yet: So far, I only knew RØRY from her feature in Blind Channel’s Die Another Day, and I had no idea about her solo stuff. So when I found her in my suggestions today I decided to give her a listen and I was positively surprised. Another incredible female artist with an amazing voice. Her single DEGRADATION came out on August 29:

Now there’s also two great album releases today, one of them has probably been one of my most awaited releases of the second half of the year: Today’s the release of Lorna Shore’s I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me. I don’t want to say too much here because I plan writing a separate review, but it’s AMAZING!

Secondly, The Rasmus finally released their new album Weirdo and I was positively surprised. It was the first The Rasmus album I’ve been liking since the first listening, so to me personally this is the best The Rasmus album since Black Roses in 2008, perhaps even since Hide From The Sun in 2005. I really like it!

And I also stumbled across an August release: The Finnish Melo-Death band Suotana from the far north found another few kilometres of the river Ounas to make another EP about it: Ounas II has been released on August 29 and is 40 minutes of finest beautiful Melodic Death:
