Concert review: Normandie, As December Falls & Self Deception, Technikum Munich, 16 March 2024
How far do you go to see a band you love play a set of 30 minutes? In that case: a 6 hour train ride all the way to Munich. I know, there are people who travel with the band, but I’m sure none of those are full-time teachers. So for me and my circumstances, this is quite a distance to travel for only a concert – and I think so far this has been one of the furthest trips I’ve made for a concert exclusively. Anyway, this was the second show of this tour that I attended. I was also at their show in Cologne, but since I had…

Concert review: Our Mirage, Oceans & Maelføy, Don’t Panic Essen, 9 March 2024
Second round of this tour. I can tell straight away that this will be less of a concert review – because this time I got a photo pass (for the first time – or second, somehow, if we count that one time Self Deception just allowed me to bring a better camera) and since I was very busy moving around to take photos I didn’t take much in of the concert. A pity, but also a great opportunity.

Concert review: Blind Channel, Ghøstkid & Rock Band From Hell, Turbinenhalle 2 Oberhausen, 21 March 2024
Edit: This review was written the day after the concert, but since I was very busy (and got ill) I couldn’t edit my photos and hence couldn’t post this earlier than now. In 2022, I bought a better compact camera to be able to take photos of Blind Channel at their tour with Electric Callboy. This band brought back my lost passion for concert photography and when I started taking photos at their shows I thought “One day I wanna be in the photo pit for Blind Channel.” Well, that day was yesterday – so here we are with a concert review that is slightly clouded by the fact that…

Concert review: Our Mirage, Oceans & Mælføy, Café Sputnik Münster, 1 March 2024
After seeing Our Mirage at Rocken hilft last year, I was hooked. When I heard of their Farewell-tour, it was obvious for me that I needed to go to at least one show – and when Oceans were revealed as support, I was even more invested. And while I’ve been waiting for those two bands in anticipation, I also found a new love with Maelføy.

Book review: Gry Kappel Jensen – Nightshade (Rosenholm Trilogy part 3)
I can’t put into words how much I was waiting for this book to come out after reading the second part of the Rosenholm trilogy. You can find my review here. The series built up a lot of tension and the ending of part two was so damn promising that I was burning to read part 3. Yet, I had to wait for a bit before I could finally dive into the book, because my bookstore got two (!) faulty copies for my order and I was seriously bummed. Every day I had to wait for the book was a day too much. As soon as I finally got an…

Album review: Blind Channel – EXIT EMOTIONS
Here we are with another long awaited pre-order. Blind Channel are more or less my number 1 favourite band since I discovered them through Eurovision 2021 (funny – when I checked out Dark Side beforehand, I called them a cute lil copy of Linkin Park that wouldn’t make it into the final. I was so wrong…). So it’s not a big surprise that I had their new album EXIT EMOTIONS pre-ordered. This time, our vinyl arrived on time. Let’s have a look at the album.

Album review: TVINNA – Two – Wings of Ember
Another pre-ordered album that I’ve been waiting for. Another band that I discovered because of its connection to Eluveitie. And another beautiful masterpiece that I’m enjoying massively now that it’s finally published. And thankfully, by now I have also received my physical copy of the album. Here’s my opinion on TVINNA’s second album „Two – Wings of Ember“.

Concert review: Lyrre (& The Harp Twins feat Volfgang Twins), Club Helvete Oberhausen, 24 February 2024
I collect projects that are connected to (former) Eluveitie members like Pokémon. It becomes especially interesting when there’s a hurdy-gurdy involved, so I guess no one is truly surprised to hear that Michalina Malisz’s own band Lyrre is on my list of favourites. This one makes me particularly happy because it’s a band I’ve been following from the very start. Hence I was very excited when they finally announced a show in my area, even if they were only the support act. Here’s my little report about that night, but be warned: Once again I’m focusing on the support act because I went there mainly (or only) to see Lyrre.

Concert review: Bad Omens & Poppy, Stadthalle Offenbach, 2 February 2024 // Poppodium 013 Tilburg, 4 February
Here’s another round of Bad Omens. Yay. This review is split into two halves, one for each show, but since there isn’t that much difference to say I guess it’s not worth making two seperate posts

Concert review: ILLUMISHADE (& Delain), Matrix Bochum, 3 February 2024
In between all the Bad Omens shows, we decided to have a little break with some symphonic metal. Six concerts in 9 days is a bit of a heavy schedule, but with ILLUMISHADE as a kind of a cooldown in between, you couldn’t do much wrong.
