    Shorts: Release Friday – 16 May 2025

Straight from my personal release radar, and put very briefly: Here are my favourite releases this week Fall of Mankind is a new project by Eluveitie’s Rafael Fella and Alain Ackermann. Portent in the Dark is their first release featuring Adrienne Cowan of Seven Spires. For their new single Break These Chains, The Rasmus have teamed up with Niko Vilhelm of Blind Channel (which is, basically, the first musical sign of life of a Blind Channel member since they went on ther break) Lorna Shore released a new single called Oblivion today, which is the first release from their upcoming album I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me, announced for 12 September 2025. Saltatio Mortis…

    Shorts: Release Friday – 7 March 2025

Time for a new … category? Not sure if I’ll be able to keep up with this, but as some kind of „short news“ stuff I thought I might share my favourite releases of the week. Maybe it’ll turn into favourite releases of the month at some point, I’ll see. (Yes, just like everything on this blog this is just yet another fun project and I don’t think anybody but me gives a flying fuck :D)

Album review: Blind Channel – EXIT EMOTIONS

Here we are with another long awaited pre-order. Blind Channel are more or less my number 1 favourite band since I discovered them through Eurovision 2021 (funny – when I checked out Dark Side beforehand, I called them a cute lil copy of Linkin Park that wouldn’t make it into the final. I was so wrong…). So it’s not a big surprise that I had their new album EXIT EMOTIONS pre-ordered. This time, our vinyl arrived on time. Let’s have a look at the album.

Album review: TVINNA – Two – Wings of Ember

Another pre-ordered album that I’ve been waiting for. Another band that I discovered because of its connection to Eluveitie. And another beautiful masterpiece that I’m enjoying massively now that it’s finally published. And thankfully, by now I have also received my physical copy of the album. Here’s my opinion on TVINNA’s second album „Two – Wings of Ember“.

Concert review: Lyrre (& The Harp Twins feat Volfgang Twins), Club Helvete Oberhausen, 24 February 2024

I collect projects that are connected to (former) Eluveitie members like Pokémon. It becomes especially interesting when there’s a hurdy-gurdy involved, so I guess no one is truly surprised to hear that Michalina Malisz’s own band Lyrre is on my list of favourites. This one makes me particularly happy because it’s a band I’ve been following from the very start. Hence I was very excited when they finally announced a show in my area, even if they were only the support act. Here’s my little report about that night, but be warned: Once again I’m focusing on the support act because I went there mainly (or only) to see Lyrre.

Album review: ILLUMISHADE – Another Side Of You

I pre-ordered three albums so far for 2024- and all of them were (or still are) highly awaited. ILLUMISHADE’s second album „Another Side Of You“ was one of them. As an expression of how much awaited this album was, let me tell you that I ordered it twice. Yes. Exactly. We got two copies of this album – first we ordered the CD (in a bundle with a t-shirt) and then about a week before the album came out, ILLUMISHADE mentioned in a video that the vinyl has bonus tracks. I am a simple person, so me and my girlfriend decided that yes, bonus tracks (that we knew before because…

Album review: Fiddler’s Green – The Green Machine

Happy new year I guess. It’s been a while and I wanted to publish this review much earlier, especially given that the CD was in my post box a week before the album was actually published. But first there were Christmas holidays, then were exams to mark and now I’m back to work. I didn’t even manage to finish my 2023 recaps, but who cares – let’s start 2024 with this review.

    My 2023 concert recap

Last year, when I was asked how many concerts we go to on average within a year, I excused the 14 concerts and 2 festivals as an exception because there were so many shows that had been postponed because of the pandemic. Little did I know. I didn’t anticipate what would happen this year, after I quit 2 time-consuming hobbies, out of which one was fairly expensive as well. Things escalated. I went to concerts. I enjoyed it. Join my concert recap of 2023 🙂
