Release Friday: 21 November 2025

The past two weeks have been full of great releases and since they’re already piling up several metres high, I can’t keep myself from telling you about my current fave releases:

Starting with last week Samurai Pizza Cats released a new song called City of Gold. It carries a strong 80s vibe (kinda reminded me of One Morning Left – whom I miss incredibly much) and I really love it.

VÆNTIS (former Neverland in Ashes) released the second single under their new name: It’s called Eject and holy cow, it’s good. It’s really damn good. Catchy, nice, I’m honestly looking forward to seeing them live in January next year:

Perhaps something most of you have taken notice of: Bad Omens also released a new single called Left for Good and it sounds less like a heartbreak-ballad and a tidbit heavier. Actually my favourite so far out of their recent releases:

The next one is a song I’ve been waiting for for 1.5 years. Actually 2 years, but for about half a year I didn’t know what I was waiting for. It’s been two years since the last single release from St Aurora, one of my fave Finnish rock bands. In May 2024, I saw them live in Helsinki and they played several new songs, including Happy House and ever since that day I’ve been waiting for them to release either this song or one of the other unreleased songs they played. Now the day has finally come, Happy House is out and DAMN, I LOVE EVERY DAMN SECOND OF IT!

After the Aviana-show in Eindhoven, I seemingly started listening to The Gloom in the Corner intensely enough that Tidal decided I deserved to get their new single Angel’s Wrath Whiskey served in my release playlist. No words, just pure awesomeness:

The next one made me giggle. At this point, I have accepted that Uniklubi, who used to be a damn good Finnish rock band in the early 2000s, have moved on to more or less Finnish Schlager by now. With their new single Unohda Mut, they made me believe they’re something like the Finnish equivalent of Versengold now. They somehow found a fiddle somewhere, the song has a bit of an Irish folk-ish vibe and hence really is my vibe because I am very soft for Irish folk-ish music.

RØRY keeps sneaking into my release playlist as well and the more I hear, the more I like her music. DEAD GIRL WALKING is another banger from the British singer who has an incredible voice:

Surprisingly quite far down in my release playlist is Self Deception – perhaps because I didn’t listen to them as much as I used to before switching to Tidal. One of the reasons for that is that they didn’t release any new music after their album Destroy The Art. A fact that didn’t quite surprise me because I’d been told by their guitarist that this time they were following a bit of a different approach and were planning not to release any new songs to soon. I’m happy to hear something new from them again and Time’s Up is a very catchy, very typical song for Self Deception.

A release from last week that also really meets my taste and makes me very excited for the concert tonight is The Narrator’s Aurora. I honestly hope that it’ll be in the setlist for this second part of the Abyss Part II tour. It’s a great song that makes me love The Narrator even more.

We’re moving closer to Christmas, so the first Christmas song popped up in my release playlist and I laughed hard when I heard it: Saltatio Mortis released a song that doesn’t sound very christmassy despite it’s christmassy topic. Santa is a Viking is a medieval fun song that is uplifting in its very own way.

Today marks the release day of The Halo Effect’s cover-EP We Are Shadows, which I only became aware of because their new song Shoreline (a cover of the Swedish band Broder Daniel) popped up in my release radar. It’s nice and it’s fun:

There’s also a new single from metal queen Melissa Bonny – Snow on Mars is another catchy song and I’m soooo excited for her solo album!

And finally, Annisokay have finally released the combo-album Abyss – The Final Chapter, which is both Abyss EPs together plus three new songs. One of those new songs is Silent Anchor, which I personally love a lot more than Splinters recently. Beautiful song. Nevertheless, I gotta admit that bands that re-release already released material with bonus songs go terribly on my nerves because why the fuck did I preorder the other two EPs if you now release them together as one and expect me to invest more money if I want to have the three new songs as well? Anyway, Silent Anchor is still beautiful.
