This post is supposed to be a little update on what’s going on here. There hasn’t been much going on here lately and I was terribly late with some of my concert reviews because my mental health went down the drain towards the end of last year. Now I’m currently working on it, which means I also have a bit of time to sort out stuff on this website.
That’s also the main reason why there haven’t been any book or album reviews lately. I didn’t have the time and energy to write anything, although I managed to read quite a few amazing books (I might come back to some of them at some point, because one of them – Cemetery Boys – was an absolute 5 star read last year!). Let’s just say … life’s been busy.
I’ve removed info on venues from my concert reviews. For now, they’re stored in a separate unpublished page until I find the time and motivation to regroup some of the information in a separate section. I don’t think anyone will ever check out anything here, but I think some of the info is quite helpfully, especially since some smaller venues don’t really have much info on their websites (and quite often, none of it is available in English if we’re talking about small clubs in Germany…). So that part will return someday.
In the meantime I’ve also joined a German online magazine called Nordmensch-in-Concerts, so German-speaking people might occasionally find stuff there (e.g. I’ve recently reviewed the tour final of Eluveitie’s ÀNV Europe Tour Part I).
Sooooo while I’m tackling my mental health issues, there’s some stuff I’m looking forward to:
New albums have been announced by Bloodywood, Eluveitie, Caliban and Wednesday 13. Annisokay will release their EP Abyss Pt II in April as well. Furthermore, there are signs that 2024 might have new albums of Lost Society and Illumishade in stock, but nothing has been announced yet.
On my personal book release radar, there are two new books by Dominik Gaida, the author of Brynmor University, this year. Also, F.T. Lukens will release a new book this spring and today is the release day of Nach dem Sturm der Stille by the German author Matti Laaksonen.
Concert- and festivalwise I have a very full schedule this year. So far I’ve planned 3 festivals and there’s a loooong list of concerts ahead especially towards the end of April / early May and then again in November. Not sure how much you’ll get to read about here on this blog, that depends on my time and energy level, but there are a few shows I’m particularly excited about (e.g. I’ll see Bloodywood and Lorna Shore for the first time this year and I got tickets for the Imminence-shows with string quartett in December), so I guess there’ll be at least some stuff making it here.
